From easy nature observation to a challenging adventure experience, Costa Rica delivers it all!We just wanted to let you know that we thoroughly enjoyed our white water rafting trip yesterday.  Luis and Chino (I hope I spelled it correctly) were great guides.  They kept us laughing the whole trip and made it very enjoyable.  Luis was very knowledgeable about the different trees, birds and animals.  Both Luis and Chino pointed out some squirrel and white-faced monkeys as well as a couple of crocodiles and many birds.  Chino made sure that JoAnne did not fall out - she is very thankful!  (He also made sure that she stayed VERY wetFor us it is important that your wishes come true. Dominical, 45 kilometers southeast of Quepos, is a tiny, laid-back “resort” favored by surfers, backpackers, and the college-age crowd. The four-kilometer-long beach is beautiful albeit pebbly, and the warm waters attract whales and dolphins close to shore. Río Barú supposedly empties polluted waters into the sea near the beach north of the village.

The beach extends south five kilometers from Dominical to Dominicalito, a little fishing village in the lee of Punta Dominical.

Swimming is dangerous because of riptides. If you overdose on the sun, sand, and surf, head into the lush mountains inland of Dominicalito, where a series of dirt roads lead steeply uphill to Escaleras (Staircases), a forest-clad region fantastic for horseback rides. Alternately, head east on a paved road that leads to San Isidro, winding up through the valley of the Río Barú into the Fila Costanera mountains, where the climate cools and you may find yourself suddenly high amid swirling clouds.
